Real Racing 3 nails the feel of competitive circuit driving, then undercuts it with aggressive monetization and uneven visuals. The core is undeniably strong: you start by buying a starter car, then work through a lengthy calendar of events across real-world tracks. Wins earn currency and points used to upgrade parts or service your vehicle to keep it in top form, which keeps the progression loop front and center.

Events span multiple formats, including head-to-head duels, elimination sprints, and larger cup races. Time-shifted multiplayer links your runs to those of other players, and connecting a social account pulls in friends as rivals even when they are not playing. It makes the leaderboards feel personal, and it injects stakes into repeat races.

Control options are generous. The default tilting setup leaves throttle and braking to assist systems, great for quick sessions. If you want more control, you can switch to full manual inputs or touch-based steering. Whichever scheme you choose, the handling feels tight and consistent, with upgrades making a noticeable difference to lap times.

Visual quality is a mixed bag. The cars you drive often look detailed, but trackside scenery can appear sparse, and on older supported hardware the presentation degrades noticeably. The game clearly favors newer devices, and this version shows its share of port compromises in environmental assets.

The biggest friction comes from microtransactions. Repairs and upgrades cost in-game money, and servicing introduces timers that you can either wait out or pay to skip. Early on, the delays are short, but as your career expands, the downtime stretches and those pre-race upgrade prompts become tempting. You can grind, but the balance leans hard toward spending.

If you can tolerate the monetization pressure and occasional visual rough edges, the racing itself is polished, content-rich, and satisfying.
