Gangstar Vegas: World of Crime
Massive Vegas sandbox packed with missions vehicles and mayhem
Massive Vegas sandbox packed with missions vehicles and mayhem
Gangstar Vegas hurls you into Sin City as a bruiser who ticks off the wrong mobster, then claws his way back up the food chain. The plot hits familiar beats and the lead lacks charisma, but the moment to moment chaos is where the game shines.
The city is enormous, with 80 story missions that constantly switch up the pace. One moment you are trading punches in a ring, the next you are sprinting after targets on foot or burning rubber in street races. When you want fast action, Quick Play offers bite sized challenges, including heists, brawls, survival waves and time trials, complete with leaderboards that nudge you to chase better scores. Vegas itself adds flavor, from high speed pursuits along the Strip to blackjack sessions that top up your cash.
Progression is all about gear. The arsenal stretches from pistols and flamethrowers to grenades and molotovs, and upgrades let you tune your loadout. The garage is just as wild, covering mopeds and trials bikes all the way to monster trucks and tanks. Cosmetic options are plentiful too, whether you want a new haircut or a ridiculous chipmunk mask.
Controls are flexible and approachable. You move with a virtual D pad and context buttons handle running, shooting and interactions. Behind the wheel, you can pick tilt, arrows or a virtual stick, and even assign different schemes for cars and bikes. A full city map highlights missions and points of interest, and you can jump straight to mission start points, which keeps the pacing snappy. A mini map keeps you oriented during the action.
Visually, the city is detailed and convincing, with lively animation and ragdoll physics that make stunts feel weighty. Occasional graphical hiccups pop up, but they do not spoil the fun. Character models are solid, although voice acting can be rough. Expect strong language and adult themes, plus a set of in car radio stations with varied licensed tracks.
It is not original, but its scale, variety and instant action make it an easy recommendation for sandbox crime fans.
