Paytm brings a broad set of financial tools into a single, tidy place. Built by One97 Communications, it centers on BHIM UPI for person to person and merchant payments, while also covering routine tasks like bill settlement and prepaid top ups. You can link several bank accounts from 140 plus Indian banks, check balances, and set beneficiaries, which makes it practical as a day to day wallet and account manager.

The app goes beyond basic payments. It helps you discover prepaid plans from major Indian carriers, and it also supports recharges for DTH, metro cards, and FASTag. Regular bills are easier to keep on track thanks to reminders and the option to enable auto payments. If you prefer a wallet, KYC can be started from your phone number or bank account, and using the wallet is not mandatory.

Paytm also slots neatly into daily shopping. You can pay on hundreds of partner apps and sites covering food delivery, groceries, entertainment, and more. In person, it supports QR scans, UPI handles, or mobile number payments at neighborhood stores, pharmacies, restaurants, petrol pumps, and larger retailers. Travel is covered too, with the ability to book IRCTC trains as well as flights and buses, so you can plan a trip without leaving the app. There are options to explore investments and insurance, rounding out its role as a general finance hub.

The main caveat is reliability around access. Some users report verification or login issues, which can be frustrating when you need to pay or transfer funds. Also, its strengths are tied closely to India’s banking and merchant network, so it makes the most sense if you live in India or transact there frequently.
