Quick startup with Copilot and modern web support

Microsoft Edge brings a Chromium foundation to Android, giving you a familiar browsing core with Microsoft’s services on top. It replaces Internet Explorer with a cleaner, more focused approach, letting you surf, save favorites, and lean on an AI helper that sits in the sidebar. Extension support is available in the broader Edge ecosystem, and syncing across devices helps keep your bookmarks and settings consistent.

Speed is most noticeable at launch. Edge opens quickly and gets you to your tabs faster than its predecessor, which is helpful if you hop between multiple pages or frequently open PDFs in the browser. Under the hood, it capably handles modern standards like JavaScript and HTML5, so dynamic and responsive sites render as intended. Streaming is also well accommodated. Compared with IE, stability is improved, making crashes less of a concern.

The standout addition is Copilot. Integrated into the interface, Microsoft’s AI assistant reads the page you are on and can use connected Microsoft 365 data to complete tasks. Ask it to summarize the day’s activity, and it can pull from sent emails and other relevant sources to produce a concise brief. Beyond that, Edge’s AI push extends to smarter search suggestions, personalized content recommendations, and even AI-powered ad blocking features, signaling a browser that tries to anticipate what you need.

Design-wise, the latest Edge trims visual clutter. The modular layout, softer styling, and straightforward profile access create a workspace that keeps distractions down and tools within reach.

There are trade-offs. Customization is more limited than IE, and the New Tab experience leans heavily on MSN content and advertising. The Top Sites section can override your choices, swapping tiles for sponsored picks. While startup is snappy, actual page loading may not feel as quick as marketing suggests. If you dislike curated feeds and promotional tiles, you will spend time damping them down.

Overall, Edge on Android is a strong pick for users who value fast activation, compatibility with today’s web, and built-in AI assistance, provided you can live with opinionated defaults and a pushy new tab page.
