Microsoft Word brings a familiar, PC-grade editor to your pocket, letting you create, read, edit, and share files for free with a workflow that feels streamlined and efficient. The interface is approachable, and a deep library of templates helps you jump straight into resumes, cover letters, letters, blog posts, scripts, notes, and more. Crucially, Word keeps formatting and layout intact, so your content looks consistent across devices and document types.

Beyond core editing, Word supports focused reading through Reading View, plus a built-in PDF converter that lets you turn PDFs into editable documents. If you need professional polish, the rich formatting tools and layout controls are up to the task, whether you are preparing a business proposal or shaping a creative draft.

Collaboration is another strength. Real-time comments enable quick back-and-forth with teammates, the integrated viewer makes opening shared files straightforward, and sharing takes only a few taps. File management tools help you track participation, making it easier to see who is working on a document at any moment.

The standout addition is Microsoft 365 Copilot. This AI assistant can generate a first draft from a short prompt with Draft with Copilot, then offer suggestions to refine grammar, spelling, and tone. It can rewrite passages, or convert selected content into a table for clarity. A chat pane answers questions about your document and can produce snippets you can paste into your work. There are caveats, including unsaved chat history, potential hiccups with some content types, and limited language support.

There are a couple of trade-offs to keep in mind. The app needs at least 1 GB of storage, and devices with screens under 10.1 inches require a Microsoft account to create or edit files. Even so, Word’s broad feature set, smooth cross-device continuity, and Copilot integration make it a dependable choice for everyday writing and team projects.
