Kick the Buddy is a gleefully simple sandbox where the goal flips the usual script: instead of protecting a hero, you prod, fling, and pummel a 2D puppet for points. The cartoonish doll, shaded to look slightly rounded, serves as your target and punchline. Each strike feeds an in-game wallet, turning mischief into currency and giving the experience a quick-hit, stress-relief vibe that lands best in short bursts.

Interaction is hands-on. You grab the doll directly, then manually deploy tools and weapons to see what happens. The appeal lies in tinkering: set up a contraption, reposition the character, trigger it, repeat. Some devices require multi-step setups that add a slapstick rhythm. Seat the puppet in an electric chair, then pull the lever. Place a shredder on the floor and slide the buddy into its teeth. The slightly awkward, drag-and-drop feel contributes to the chaotic humor rather than polished precision. A broad arsenal keeps the curiosity going for a while, and the character’s quips are amusing at first.

Progress, however, leans hard on monetization. You earn cash by playing, but the items unlocked through regular grinding tend to be basic. Effects like blood sit behind a paywall, and many of the more enticing tools are locked unless you pay. Ads appear frequently, interrupting momentum, and an errant tap can burst an ad in exchange for coins. Between the prompts to spend and the cadence of interruptions, the flow can feel more gated than playful.

As a toybox for quick catharsis, Kick the Buddy delivers goofy, low-stakes experimentation. Yet the constant nudges to watch ads or open your wallet chip away at the fun. If you enjoy cause-and-effect tinkering and do not mind a persistent monetization push, there is fleeting entertainment here. If you are sensitive to interruptions and IAP pressure, the novelty may wear off fast.
