Chaotic goat survival with zombies and crafting galore

Goat Simulator GoatZ takes the anything-goes antics of its barnyard antihero and drops them into a tongue-in-cheek apocalypse. It is a standalone slice of mayhem that riffs on zombie survival games, then gleefully mocks them while you headbutt everything in sight.

The world is a sandbox, so exploration and improvised chaos are the real goals. Two distinct modes frame your mischief. In Before Outbreak, your mission is simple: spread the infection to kickstart the end times. In After Outbreak, the catastrophe has already happened, so the focus shifts to making it through day after day without becoming goat chow. Aside from that opening twist, both paths boil down to staying alive and causing as much havoc as possible.

Core moves return from the original, including the wonderfully ridiculous sticky tongue that lets you drag objects and unsuspecting citizens around. New survival-flavored systems change the rhythm, with hunger management forcing you to scavenge for food, and a light crafting setup letting you mash items together for creative ways to batter the undead. The controls remain intentionally awkward and wobbly, which still fuels many of the funniest accidents, although it does demand patience during busier encounters.

Presentation-wise, the look is familiar, but you can see further into the distance, which helps the wasteland feel broader and livelier. The soundtrack leans darker than before, nudging the mood toward parody horror without losing the series’ signature silliness. The satire lands often, from nods to survival sims to the sheer absurdity of a goat kickstarting an outbreak.

GoatZ does not aim to overhaul the formula, it simply layers zombies, hunger, and crafting atop the established chaos. If you relish surreal, self-aware comedy and freeform play, there is plenty to discover. If you prefer clear objectives or tight handling, the loose structure and slippery controls may test your tolerance.
