FLauncher

Smart launcher for Android TV

Customizable ad-free launcher for organizing sideloaded apps

FLauncher is a free, open-source launcher built with Google’s Flutter framework that aims to replace the default experience on Android TV and Google TV devices. Its standout purpose is simple but valuable: give you a clean, customizable hub where both TV-optimized titles and sideloaded apps can live side by side.

The interface centers on categories you can tailor to your taste. You can create groups, reorder apps within them, and switch between row or grid views to match how you like to browse. Visuals get attention too, with wallpaper support that lets you personalize the backdrop. Practical touches are baked in, including the ability to uninstall apps directly and jump straight to system Settings or each app’s Info screen via handy shortcuts. If you often manage non-TV apps, these controls reduce the back-and-forth through system menus.

The developer labels the project as still early in its life, and that shows at times with occasional instability. That caution aside, it has been tested to work excellently on Chromecast with Google TV, which is a good sign for compatibility. The experience is refreshingly distraction-free as well, since there are no ads. If you want it to act as your default launcher, you will need to remap your remote’s Home button using Button Mapper, an extra step that some users may find necessary to get the full benefit.

FLauncher is best suited to users who want more control over their home screen and who regularly run sideloaded apps. It already covers the essentials with thoughtful customization, direct management tools, and a clean layout. If you are comfortable with a project that is still evolving, this is a capable alternative that can make navigating a TV device feel more personal and focused.
