Fast-paced platform brawls with cross-play and party chaos
Brawlhalla delivers a punchy platform fighter where positioning and timing rule every moment. Matches unfold on compact, floating arenas, and the objective is crystal clear: rack up eliminations while guarding your own stock. Damage pushes rivals closer to the brink, and when their health gauge shifts to deep red, a well-placed strike can blast them off the stage. Each knockout grants a point, each fall subtracts one, so aggression and caution constantly tug at each other.
The roster of Legends is broad, featuring originals alongside recognizable crossover faces. Every character can wield two distinct weapons, throw items like bombs and mines, or scrap bare-knuckle, giving each round a different flavor even before you factor in your opponents. The result is a lively loop of reads, counters, and momentum swings that rewards awareness as much as reflexes.
Modes are where Brawlhalla shines for groups. It supports up to eight players and works both online and in local co-op. Ranked ladders are there for competitive grinds, and a Battle Pass adds progression goals. Casual playlists keep things varied: Free-for-All chaos, Strikeout 1v1 where you rotate through three picks with one stock each, Friendly 2v2 that you can play solo or with a partner, and Experimental 1v1 for trying test features. Party variants like Brawlball and Capture the Flag change the pace without abandoning the core combat.
A recent Borderlands collaboration injects personality, with Claptrap, Lilith, Tiny Tina, and Krieg arriving as themed skins complete with tailored animations and weapon cosmetics. These do not alter how Legends play, which is great for accessibility but means the core feel does not shift much. If you want sweeping mechanical updates, the loop can start to feel familiar, and new content largely centers on characters, items, and maps.
Still, full cross-play and custom rooms make it easy to assemble matches across systems. For quick bouts, lively couch sessions, and flexible online brawls, Brawlhalla hits the mark.
