Boris and the Dark Survival drops you into the shadowy corridors of an abandoned animation studio, casting you as Boris the Wolf in a tense top down survival adventure. Set before the events of Bendy and the Ink Machine, it trims the story to a minimum and focuses on a stealthy scavenger loop that fans of the series will immediately recognize.

Each run sends Boris through randomized floors with a simple checklist of supplies to gather. The mood is the star here, with striking 3D visuals that twist vintage cartoon aesthetics into something unsettling. Exploration is quiet until the Ink Demon takes notice. Once enough items are collected, the hunter appears and patrols the halls. You cannot fight back, so your tools are sprinting and hiding. Ducking into Little Miracle Stations makes you completely safe, a welcome breather when the chase music kicks in.

Movement management matters. Sprinting chews through Bacon Soup, and you will need to top it up at Tasty Eats Machines to keep outrunning danger. After completing your checklist, you must reach the elevator while the Ink Demon becomes more aggressive, which adds a late run spike of pressure. Lockers hide secrets and scrap notes, and finding seven of these pieces unlocks the ending, giving completionists a reason to keep combing the maps.

The trade offs are clear. With sparse narrative and a narrow set of objectives, repetition creeps in once you have mastered the loop. The Ink Demon’s behavior rarely surprises, which reduces long term tension. Still, the combination of randomized layouts, myriad collectibles, and evocative art direction creates a compact, moody experience.
