The app can also trigger fingerprint prompts at unpredictable moments, which helps catch someone trying their luck when you are not looking. Your private media is covered as well, thanks to a vault that locks photos and videos behind your chosen credentials.

If stealth matters, AppLock can hide itself from the launcher. Access can then be regained through several entry points, such as a share option in your gallery, a home screen widget, a dialer shortcut code, or a specific browser route. For extra peace of mind, an Advanced Protection setting can block unauthorized attempts to uninstall the app, adding a hurdle for anyone trying to bypass your safeguards.

Day to day use is straightforward, and the lightweight design helps keep resource use in check. A convenient widget lets you temporarily disable or re-enable all locks after authenticating, which is handy when you need to move quickly between tasks.

There are a couple of caveats. Some capabilities sit behind a premium tier, including certain icon related options. Also, if you forget your pattern or password, recovery via email can be slow to arrive, which is inconvenient when you need access right away. Even with those drawbacks, AppLock delivers a reliable extra layer of protection for your apps, settings, and personal media.
