ZOOM packages a broad set of video communication tools into an interface that is easy to learn. The home screen puts key actions up front: start a meeting, join one, schedule a session, or share your screen. Dedicated tabs for Meetings, Team Chat, Mail, and Calendar keep ongoing work organized, while a More section surfaces your profile, settings, and extras like Whiteboards, Events, Apps, and Contacts.

Joining a call is straightforward for guests. You can enter with a meeting ID or a link, pick a display name, and choose whether audio and video connect on entry. Hosting or scheduling does require an account, with sign in options through major identity services or email and password. Once set up, you can launch a room using your personal ID or share a link with participants.

Collaboration features are a highlight. Virtual backgrounds let you pick from defaults or upload an image for a cleaner or more fun backdrop. Screen sharing supports presentations and walkthroughs, allowing everyone to follow slides, documents, webpages, or videos. Whiteboard tools enable on screen annotations for brainstorming, and in meeting chat is handy for side notes and file sharing. Breakout Rooms help split a large group into smaller discussions and then bring everyone back together.

The free tier is generous for most needs. You can host up to 100 participants, run unlimited meetings, view up to 49 people in gallery mode, and use Team Chat and Mail. The trade off is a 40 minute limit per session, which may interrupt longer classes or workshops. Upgrading lifts that cap and adds perks like an AI assistant and 5 GB of cloud recordings.

Security is treated with care. Meetings can require passwords, end to end encryption is available, and the Waiting Room gives hosts control over who gets in and when. Taken together, ZOOM balances approachability with depth, making it a strong choice for work, learning, and casual catch ups.
