X-VPN aims to balance everyday privacy with easy access to region-locked video. It offers a large network, city-level picks, and a straightforward interface that makes hopping between locations simple, yet it comes with performance and transparency trade-offs.

The highlight is breadth. You get more than 5,000 servers across 52 countries, including popular regions like the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and parts of Asia. City selection helps fine-tune access to state or city-specific content, and there is a dedicated Streaming tab with servers tailored for platforms such as US Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and BBC iPlayer. That said, coverage is thin in Africa and in South and Central America, and the app can occasionally connect you to a different location than the one you picked.

For features, X-VPN keeps things simple. One tap connects you to a recommended or continent-sorted list, and automatic fastest server selection removes guesswork. Useful safeguards are included, notably a kill switch and split tunneling via Application Control, plus AES-256 encryption for traffic. A built-in speed test is available to premium users, and the service supports up to five devices. Free access exists, but it is restrictive: data is capped at 500 MB and only a subset of more than 200 servers is available.

Performance is a mixed bag. Nearby servers can deliver decent downloads and low ping, but overall speed is mediocre, with around a 15 percent download dip on long-distance links. Upload performance is not ideal for P2P, and while some servers permit torrenting, they are not clearly labeled.

Privacy is where questions arise. X-VPN relies on proprietary protocols and provides few technical details, which hurts transparency. There is session logging, and beyond the basics, the app feels short on advanced settings. If you want a quick way to unblock streaming services and route select apps through a VPN, X-VPN does the job. If top-tier speed, detailed protocol information, and feature depth are priorities, its limitations are hard to ignore.
