Hyperlocal forecasts with interactive maps and lightning alerts

WeatherBug focuses on depth, giving you a rich snapshot of current conditions pulled from the nearest weather station. It automatically locates you and lays out key data points at a glance, including current temperature with daily highs and lows, wind speed and direction, wind chill, rainfall, dew point, pressure, and humidity. A seven-day outlook sits alongside these stats, making short term planning straightforward.

If you track multiple places, you can search for locations, save them, and quickly cycle through each city’s conditions. The mapping experience is a highlight, with clean overlays that can be switched between Radar, Satellite, and Temperature. Zoom controls are simple and make it easy to move from a regional view to street level when storms are approaching.

Beyond raw numbers, WeatherBug adds context with video reports and refreshed images of local conditions in supported areas. The app’s Spark lightning alerts are a welcome safety touch, providing timely awareness when electrical storms are brewing. There are plenty of settings to tailor the experience, including options for location tracking, temperature notifications, and unit preferences.

There are a couple of caveats. Live images and some media features are not available everywhere, so your experience may depend on the coverage in your area. Also, while you can tweak units in general, the temperature scale on the weather maps cannot be switched to metric, which may frustrate users who rely on Celsius.

Recent updates bring a refreshed interface, the return of landscape mode, and stability enhancements, rounding out an already comprehensive package. For anyone who wants detailed local data, clear maps, and practical alerts in one place, WeatherBug makes a strong case as a daily weather companion.
