It taps into a large crowdsourced directory to name unknown numbers in real time, then lets you decide whether to answer, silence, or block. The same protection extends to messaging, with filters for chain texts and the option to create a personal blacklist for persistent nuisances.

Getting started is straightforward, with sign in options through Gmail, Facebook, or Microsoft. With your permission, the service uses your contacts to strengthen its directory, which is how it can label many incoming calls with names and locations even if you have never saved the number. You can choose whether to receive notifications about blocked attempts, and you can search the directory to look up numbers or people. The interface is tidy and focused, compiling calls, messages, and contacts into one hub. The caller ID card sits centered below the number during incoming calls and does not interfere with answering. If your friends use Truecaller, you can message them within the app as well.

Social connections, including hooks into platforms like Facebook and Twitter, help enrich profiles and improve recognition. Ads are present, but they remain unobtrusive. Permissions are explicit, and optional connections can be declined. The trade off is data heavy operation, since the directory draws on user submissions and may display nicknames or photos added by others. With permissions granted, it can also surface contacts from messaging apps, which raises understandable privacy questions. You can request removal of your number using the unlisting feature if you prefer.

Paid upgrades are available. Premium adds call recording, a badge, and visibility into who viewed your profile, while Gold focuses on priority support and a gold ID. Recent updates improved overall speed and fixed issues around SMS being hidden and delayed incoming call alerts.
