Command medieval armies in a faithful strategy epic

Command medieval armies in a faithful strategy epic

Total War: MEDIEVAL II arrives in handheld form courtesy of Feral Interactive, preserving the depth and drama that made the 2006 original a favorite. You take charge of a historical faction across the years 1080 to 1530, balancing expansion, diplomacy, and warfare while directing ranks of knights, archers, and infantry in sweeping clashes.

This edition aims to keep the full experience intact, trading keyboard and mouse for a bespoke touch interface. The new control setup is clean and purposeful, letting you select units, issue orders, and manage the field with fewer taps. It also builds on the approach used in the earlier Rome release, smoothing the friction that can come with commanding large armies on a touchscreen. Off the battlefield, settlement management and campaign systems have been sharpened, giving you more levers to pull as you shape an empire and respond to rival powers.

There are compromises to note. The roster of playable factions is smaller than in the original PC release, which may disappoint veterans who enjoy sampling every corner of the map. Storage demands are steep as well, with 4.38 GB of free space required before you can dive in. Compatibility is selective, and some older device models are blocked from purchasing the game, so check your hardware status before getting invested.

For strategy fans, the appeal is clear. This is not a cut down spin on the brand, but a comprehensive take that retains the series hallmark of grand campaigns and large scale battles with hundreds of units on screen. If you have the space and a supported device, Total War: MEDIEVAL II delivers a richly featured, touch friendly route back to the high stakes of medieval conquest.
