Custom tiles for personalized quick settings and app shortcuts
Tile Shortcuts is a free customization tool that turns the quick settings shade into a canvas for your style. Instead of settling for stock icons, you can craft tiles that launch apps, run shortcuts, open intents, or jump to URLs, then place them in the pull-down area for fast access. It is a small utility focused on aesthetics, yet it adds practical flexibility to how you trigger everyday actions.
Creating a tile is straightforward in structure but rich in options. Tap the red plus button and you will see four panels: Tile, Name, Icon, and Extras. Under Tile, choose what the tile should do: App, Shortcut, Intent, or URL. Pick an app and the Name field auto-fills, which you can edit to keep your grid tidy. The Icon section is where the fun begins. You can stick with clean, minimalist presets, import custom graphics, apply icon packs, and make advanced tweaks so tiles match your theme.
The visual polish stands out. Designs lean sleek and cohesive, so your quick settings area can look consistent instead of mismatched. It also plays nicely with third party quick settings trays, including bottom-style panels, expanding where and how your tiles appear.
There are caveats. The initial tutorial can feel dense and some options are not immediately intuitive, so expect a short learning curve. On certain devices, system battery optimization can interfere, sometimes causing changes to roll back or tiles to act inconsistently until you adjust those settings. These hiccups do not negate the utility, but they do require a bit of patience.
If you enjoy fine-tuning the look of your phone and want direct access to specific actions without cluttering your home screen, Tile Shortcuts delivers a thoughtful balance of form and function. Power users and theme enthusiasts will appreciate the depth, while casual tinkerers will still find it a handy way to give the notification shade a personalized touch.
