The premise is simple, but the atmosphere and gear-driven progression keep each bout engaging.

The campaign unfolds across multiple acts, each capped by a boss encounter. Between marquee battles, you can dip into several modes, including Survival, Challenge, Duel, and Tournament. They are not mandatory, yet they are smart stops for earning currency to expand your arsenal. The Special Edition’s unlimited energy is a welcome tweak, letting you train, retry, and experiment without waiting for meters to refill. Combat rewards timing and positioning, and weapon types meaningfully alter your reach and rhythm, encouraging you to refine a style.

There is narrative weight too. The Old Wounds chapter focuses on a younger Sensei, adding context to the larger saga. It unlocks after you clear three tournaments within the first six acts, and its trail of allies, rivals, and half-truths provides a satisfying incentive to push onward. The shadow theater presentation gives duels a striking, almost balletic look that fits the mysterious tone.

Not everything lands. There is no multiplayer, so the entire experience is solo. Some modes from the previous entry do not make a return, narrowing variety for series veterans. Critical hit cues can feel late, which may frustrate players who rely on visual indicators. Progression can also snag because gem levels do not automatically scale with your character. Even with those caveats, this is a focused, stylish fighter with enough depth and story to keep you chasing Titan’s downfall.
