Megapolis keeps the focus squarely on classic city-building. From the outset you are laying roads, placing homes and shops, and tackling civic projects like bus routes and road junctions. Coins and residents start to accumulate quickly, and the steady rhythm of checking in to collect, expand, and refine your layout is addictive. A steady stream of quests, tasks, and competitions keeps your to-do list full, while the building menus let you browse residential and commercial options and filter by budget.

The visual payoff is a big draw. You begin with modest wooden houses, then gradually unlock a skyline of real-world icons. The Eiffel Tower, Burj Khalifa, Petronas Towers, the Empire State Building, and the Gherkin all appear in colorful 3D, giving your city a striking identity as it grows. The music and effects are unremarkable, so you may end up muting them.

Progress does hinge on megabucks, a premium currency that becomes hard to earn after the early game. Expanding land and certain actions require megabucks, which nudges you toward in-app purchases. There are no ads, and you can link through Facebook or add neighbors inside the game, plus complete offers, to top up your stash, but the grind remains a noticeable bottleneck.

Usability is a mixed bag. Load times can be slow. Rearranging buildings can feel finicky, and when you open new territory you must drag structures manually to the edge. Collecting coins and welcoming residents involves tapping individual icons across the map. Automation perks eventually reduce the busywork, but large cities become cluttered and smaller buildings are hard to tap accurately.

If you want a traditional city-builder with bright 3D visuals and a constant flow of objectives, Megapolis delivers. With easier access to megabucks and a few quality-of-life tweaks, it could be outstanding. As it stands, it is an engaging builder with some patience-testing friction.
