Ice Scream United: Multiplayer
Team up or hunt as Rod in a chilling factory escape
Team up or hunt as Rod in a chilling factory escape
Ice Scream United: Multiplayer turns the series’ icy nightmares into a social scarefest. Set once again in Rod’s dilapidated ice cream factory, this first-person outing lets you join forces with other players to break out, or flip the script and stalk the halls as Rod himself. A lightning strike sets the stage by freeing J and his friends, and from there the tension never lets up as teams scour corridors, cobble together tools, and puzzle through locked doors and twisted contraptions.
The cooperative angle is the star. You can open a public lobby, start a private session with friends, and coordinate through built-in text or voice chat. Working together matters, since the factory is sprawling and the number of puzzles is generous. Get nabbed by Rod and the action does not instantly end. A quick mini-game gives you a shot at slipping free, adding a fun risk-reward beat to each chase. If you do go down, Spectator mode keeps you engaged by letting you watch the rest of the round play out.
Resource gathering and crafting help your group push forward. Scavenged gear and improvised weapons offer a measure of defense, though stealth and teamwork remain the safest path. Controls are simple to grasp, which helps newcomers settle in quickly.
Presentation is a highlight. Sharp animations and menacing audio cues create a properly eerie mood, and wearing headphones makes the distant clanks, footsteps, and Rod’s presence feel uncomfortably close. The factory’s grimy details and the jumpy sound design elevate the atmosphere from start to finish.
The biggest drawback is the ad load, which can feel excessive and cut into the flow of play. Still, if you are after a cooperative horror experience that blends stealth, crafting, and cat-and-mouse chases with friends, this entry delivers a satisfyingly spooky group session.
