Feature-packed art studio for manga and more
ibis Paint X brings a full creative toolbox to artists who love stylized illustration, especially manga and anime, while still covering everyday drawing and photo touch-ups. It supports layered workflows, offers multiple brush types, and includes full RGB and HSB color palettes, so building complex scenes and fine color grades feels natural.
The catalog of resources is extensive. You get over 2,500 materials and around 800 fonts, paired with 325 brushes, 63 filters, 46 screen tones, and 27 blending modes. Helpful utilities such as stroke stabilization, clipping masks, and a variety of rulers, including symmetry and radial line options, make linework sharper and composition easier. The feature set edges into desktop-grade territory, giving you room to experiment without sacrificing control.
A standout addition is the time-lapse recorder. You can capture the entire drawing process as a video, then share it to social platforms or within the app’s community. Browsing process videos from other creators is a practical way to pick up techniques and refine your own workflow.
The interface is responsive thanks to its OpenGL-based renderer, but the layout can feel crowded on a phone screen where tools compete for space. A larger tablet and stylus improve precision and comfort, especially during detailed inking or when juggling many layers.
There is a clear trade-off in the free tier. Many brushes or layer tools require watching ads, and there are a lot of them. You can remove advertising with a one-time Remove Ads add-on, or opt for the Prime Membership, which both removes ads and unlocks extra features beyond the free set.
Verdict: An impressive, feature-rich drawing suite with a strong manga focus, excellent tool depth, and useful community learning. Expect a cluttered feel on smaller screens and aggressive ads unless you pay to remove them.
