Honkai Impact 3 is a free-to-play 3D action RPG that drops you into an alternate world ravaged by cataclysms. You serve as the Captain aboard the Hyperion, commanding elite Valkyries under the Schicksal banner to push back the Honkai. It is a standalone story that brings familiar faces into fresh roles, and its anime sheen is backed by impressive animation and strong voice work.

Battles are real time, blending hack-and-slash with a beat em up pace. You field squads of three Valkyries, swapping between them on the fly while your reserves fight alongside you as AI partners. A role triangle that works like rock paper scissors keeps matchups tactical, and there is substantial build depth. Battlesuits change playstyle, weapons shift your toolkit, and Stigmata are equippable cards that boost stats. Upgrades arrive through crafting or the ever-present gacha.

There is no shortage of modes. You get a main campaign, tougher side stories with Hard options, and an open world segment featuring special characters, all punctuated by visual novel scenes and fully animated moments. Co-op raids and arena boss fights round out the multiplayer suite. Away from combat, a Dorm system lets you decorate spaces, visit others, and grow bonds with Valkyries for a lighthearted change of pace. Cross-platform play is supported.

Live events keep the carousel turning. The Banquet Dance of Shade introduces a mission tracker that helps you follow objectives, with story clears yielding rewards like Crystals and Honkai Shards. Accepting Invitation to the Lamb unlocks the Master of All stage and activities such as Trial of Domination and Spirit Taming, which hand out items including Ancient Willpowers and ADV Skill Materials. Exploration skills like Shadow Servant, Shadow Bullet, and Shadow Familiar reveal hidden chests for additional loot. Some prizes are time-limited, and new content like the S-rank battlesuit Mad Pleasure: Shadowbringer is on the horizon. Other promotions can grant the Herrscher of Origin card, outfits, and login goodies.

It is a loot-heavy game with gacha at its core, though official codes periodically deliver free currency and items.
