Ecast

Record your screen with ease

Free tool for screen mirroring and TV control

Ecast is a lightweight, no-cost utility that mirrors your device’s screen to a television or other external display on the same network. Whether you are on a video call, watching clips, or playing games, it lets you put the action on a bigger canvas. It also covers local media, so videos, music, and photos stored on your device can be cast without fuss.

Beyond mirroring, Ecast doubles as a remote for compatible smart TVs and set-top boxes. The Remote section is thoughtfully laid out, with touch-based navigation for swiping around interfaces, dedicated volume controls, and Power and Mute buttons. A numeric keypad is included for quick channel entry. The absence of an alphabetical keypad, however, can make typing searches or passwords more cumbersome, especially in apps that expect text input.

One of Ecast’s strongest draws is its tiny footprint. At roughly 7 MB, it takes up far less space than many multi-feature casting tools while still delivering the essentials. It also aims for broad media support, handling the typical formats most users keep on their devices, which makes it a practical choice for casual streaming from a local library.

There are trade-offs to consider. The developer does not publish a clear list of supported TV or set-top box models, so compatibility can be hit-or-miss depending on your hardware. It is also not distributed through major app stores, which means you need to obtain the app manually and check for updates yourself.

If your equipment plays nicely with it, Ecast offers a tidy blend of screen mirroring and remote control in a compact, free package.
