DIKSHA - National Teachers Platform for India
Government-backed learning hub for teachers and students
Government-backed learning hub for teachers and students
DIKSHA is a free, nationwide education platform from the Government of India that brings classroom resources, professional development, and student practice tools under one roof. On first launch you choose your role, teacher or student, and your preferred language, which tailors the catalog to what you need. A straightforward search helps you find topics fast, and much of the content is interactive rather than static.
For students, DIKSHA complements textbooks with lesson reviews, quizzes, and exercises that provide immediate feedback. A standout touch is QR code scanning in printed books to jump straight to related digital lessons for added context and extra reading. Once you have opened a resource, you can store it for offline access, so revision does not depend on a constant internet connection.
Teachers get practical help for planning and delivery. The app offers ready-to-use worksheets, lesson plans, and classroom activities designed to boost engagement and support different teaching methods. Beyond daily instruction, there are built-in courses to extend your skills, with certificates and badges awarded on completion to track professional growth.
Account creation is required, including name, email, password, and a one-time password for verification. The app also requests multiple permissions, such as access to photos, media, and files, which some users may want to review before proceeding.
Functionally, DIKSHA is ambitious but uneven. Users report accessibility issues, with some videos failing to play, slow loading pages, and occasional crashes. There are also instances of courses not registering as complete, which can make progress tracking unreliable. The platform is updated regularly, though, signaling ongoing work to address these problems.
