Operate real brand cranes and trucks across varied building jobs

Construction Simulator 2014 puts you in the hard hat of a budding contractor, handing you the keys to recognizable machines from Liebherr, MAN, and Still. You start with modest hauling and digging tasks, gradually stacking up cash and experience to unlock a bigger fleet and more complex contracts. Before long, your to-do list expands from carting containers to pouring foundations and managing entire job sites.

The progression loop is satisfying. Completing work funds new purchases, and the roster is generous: wheel loader, truck crane, pickup, concrete pump, excavator, compactor, and cement mixer are all available. Each addition opens fresh activities and a new layer of challenge. If a contract feels like a slog, you can assign parts of it to an AI laborer, though payment only covers the work you personally complete. A paid vehicle delivery option trims down tedious travel, while build mode lets you jump straight into operating the gear yourself, whether it is a backhoe or a dump truck.

Controls are a mixed bag. You can steer with on-screen buttons or tilt controls, but both can feel imprecise. Small roadside items, such as signs or reflector posts, can stop you dead in your tracks. When that happens, a one-tap reset puts your vehicle back on the road, a welcome quality-of-life feature. Load times are on the slow side, so expect some waiting between activities.

Presentation is utilitarian. Vehicles and structures look fine without being eye-catching, and certain elements, like trees built from obvious flat panels, break the illusion. Audio is sparse, limited to engine and machinery sounds, with no music or radio to fill the silence.

Despite its rough edges, this is a sturdy simulation with an appealing selection of branded machinery, varied missions, and the sense of growing from apprentice to site boss. If you can tolerate clunky steering and bare-bones production, there is a lot of construction to tackle.
