Bad Piggies
Build wild contraptions in a clever physics puzzler
Build wild contraptions in a clever physics puzzler
Bad Piggies flips the formula by putting the green swine in the driver seat and asking you to think like an engineer. Rather than flinging anything, you assemble quirky machines to shepherd a pig from start to finish across cliffs, caves, and other hazards in pursuit of precious eggs.
Each level hands you a limited toolbox and a three star target, then challenges you to make something that actually works. Crates become chassis, wheels add momentum, umbrellas turn into makeshift parachutes, fans provide thrust, and TNT becomes a risky shortcut. After you launch from a hill, you tap to trigger parts at the right moment to float, boost, or pivot your craft, snagging stars on the way to the goal. The quantity and variety of stages keep the puzzles feeling fresh, with layouts that push you to rethink designs rather than reuse the same cart.
This emphasis on planning is both the hook and the hurdle. Success depends on tinkering, iteration, and a bit of mechanical logic. Players who enjoyed the instant gratification of simple slingshots may find the building phase slow and sometimes stubborn. When a rickety design finally hums along and sweeps up all three stars, the payoff is real, but getting there can be prickly.
Presentation helps the effort feel playful. The world is bright and colorful, the piggies mug through slapstick cutscenes, and the soundtrack chirps along. There is room to stretch your creativity too, with a free sandbox for experimentation and a giant Field of Dreams sandbox available as an optional purchase. Updates have also added a moody moonlit theme with chase style stages to spice up the campaign.
If you want a physics puzzle game that rewards experimentation and embraces trial and error, Bad Piggies delivers lots of inventive challenges. If you prefer quick wins, its stubborn difficulty may test your patience.
