ArgoVPN is a free tool built to help users access the open web in restrictive environments, with a strong focus on safety and granular control. Its built-in firewall lets you block specific sites while you are connected to its servers, and those blocks persist for the entire session. There is also a community-maintained repository that filters phishing and malware domains, updated regularly so you do not have to manage threat lists yourself. You can even combine ArgoVPN Firewall with Cloudflare Family or Cloudflare Malware filtering for an extra layer of protection.

To navigate heavy filtering, ArgoVPN offers two standout capabilities. Falcon lets you register and attach your own domain name, a method intended to help bypass nationwide blocks. Bridges provide connections through nonpublic addresses, which can be useful when standard routes are unavailable. Beyond access, the app includes a DNS server, DNS leak prevention, and per-app exclusions so selected apps can operate outside the VPN tunnel.

There is fine-grained control over URLs too. You can exclude trusted download sites or other destinations from the tunnel, keeping that traffic separate. Used carefully, these exceptions can maintain a protected browsing session while giving select services direct access.

Security is a central theme. Once connected, traffic is encrypted using ciphers chosen automatically based on your device’s processor. Combined with the curated blocklists, this makes ArgoVPN appealing for users who want both circumvention and safety tools in one place.

However, reliability is a mixed bag. Users have reported bugs and crashes, as well as connection problems, including cases where service appears active but traffic does not pass.
