Angry Birds Friends takes the classic bird flinging formula and turns it into a head to head score chase. The core is familiar, you pull back the slingshot, topple piggy forts, and aim for maximum destruction. What sets this version apart is the constant competition layered on top, with fresh sets of stages appearing every week and a clear focus on beating your friends.

A short ramp up helps you settle in. Five required tutorial stages teach the basics and introduce a row of tap to use power ups, including a laser style aiming guide, beefed up birds, and a tremor effect that can shake unstable structures. The trade off, there is little new in the moment to moment gameplay. If you want innovation, you will not find it here. If you want competitive Angry Birds with regular updates and social bragging rights, this hits the mark.
